Is ogx cruelty free?

OGX, initially named Organix, is a cosmetic brand that is primarily a haircare brand but also provides both body and hair care that are good in quality within an affordable price range. The brand’s hair care products were favoured by many as it provides good care to even curly and wavy hair. This is what the brand says about itself:

“We’re beautiful, pure and simple. So unattainable looks don’t inspire us, but originality does. That’s why we love being different; from our exotic ingredients, to the shape of our bottles, to our quest for sustainability —we approach beauty in our own way.

Our ads aren’t filled with celebrity spokesmodels, and we don’t try to make hair look “perfect” because we’d rather make hair look fuller, smoother, straighter, curlier, or bouncier and smell irresistible while we’re at it.

That means we’ll never ask what you want to “fix” about your hair because that’s something you should never even think about. We just want to know what you love about it, so we can make you love it even more.”

You would expect a brand with an ideology of providing the “best of best”(though many consider the brand’s advertising to be extremely misleading) to its customer will be cruelty-free.

But no, Ogx is not cruelty-free. To be more precise the company lost its cruelty-free status from PETA in the year 2015. The reason why they were removed from the list was that they started selling their products in mainland China( which is mentioned in their commitment to safety. Moreover, the brand was at first under the ownership of Vogue international but in 2018 the brand was acquired by Johnson & Johnson. Both of these are not cruelty-free companies because they accept that they do tests on animals when required by law and hence the company that is under them cannot be cruelty-free.

In short, because the company test its finished products on animals when required by law themselves or using a third party and they sell the product in countries where animal testing is required by law, the company cannot be considered cruelty-free.

Is OGX Vegan?

Though the company is not 100% vegan they do have vegan but most websites indulged in supporting cruelty-free products don’t recommend using even vegan products from non-cruelty free brands.
