What oils lighten hairs?
Lemon essential oil works the best to naturally lighten the hair. It is its high acidity level that makes it an effective solution to lighten hair strands. But the efficacy of lemon essential oil is magnified when exposed to the sun. The citric acid present in the lemon accelerates the bleaching process and so results in the hair pigments breaking down and uncovering the lighter colours underneath it. This lemon essential oil is safe, cost-effective, and gentler compared to the chemical hair dyes and hair bleaches.

Other Natural ingredients that lighten hairs
1. Apple cider vinegar
Apart from removing product build-up and excess oil from the scalp, Apple cider vinegar also has the property of lightening the strands of your hair. It is a gentler and natural way alternative. In a spray bottle, fill equal parts of ACV and water and then saturate your hair with it. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing out.
2. Cinnamon and raw honey
The combination of cinnamon and raw honey mask is the most useful and effective for lightening strands. The Hydrogen Peroxide in honey gets activated when combined with cinnamon. 3. Saltwater
It is the easiest way to lighten the hair. Just add a bit of salt in a small spray bottle of water and use it all over the hair. Then, stay under the sun for a while. The seawater solution will open the hair cuticles slightly, allowing the sun to fade or lighten your hair colour. It’s best to use when you want to lighten your already colour-treated hair.
4. Lemon juice with conditioner
Lemon juice works wonderfully as a hair lightener. But, it needs to be used with caution as applying lemon juice alone can be too acidic for your hair. This is why it’s best to mix it with your choice of conditioner or even coconut oil to ensure you don’t lose any hydration from your hair in the process.
